Book Description:
Sami Efendi is an important person who lived between 1892-1984. He has always been in an effort to live for the sake of Allah (swt). Sami Efendi is a sufi who is extremely devoted to the provisions of the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh). His heart has always burned with the love of Medina-i Münevvere. Those who offered to buy a burial place from Eyüp Sultan: “If you ask our vote, our hearts will want Cennet’ül-Baki.” They expressed their love for Cennetü’l-Baki with the word, as a matter of fact, they were buried there as well. Sami Efendi’s understanding of mysticism is based on “purification of the heart, purification of the soul”. The basic principles for this are as follows: Riyazet, istighfar, dhikr-i permanent, conversation of the righteous and faithful, reading the Qur’an by contemplating its meaning. Again, in his understanding of mysticism, not miracles, but direction; not extraordinary situations, but the good morality of the devotee. According to him, decency and sensitivity to halal bites, compassion and service effort are indispensable principles of the spiritual journey. He lived a moderate life away from extremes throughout his life and reflected this to his understanding of Sufism.
